WHAT IS CHEMOTAXIS?


Chemotaxis is a phenomenon in which bacteria direct their movements according to certain substances perceived in the environment that act as attractants or repellents.
When movement is toward the site with a higher concentration of the substance, it is called positive chemotaxis. In contrast, if the organism moves in the opposite direction, it is negative chemotaxis. Some bacteria move using flagella that have protein sensors capable of locating chemoattractant substances in the environment, such as microalgal metabolites. These sensors detect positive gradients and signal the flagellum on how to move to associate with plant roots. BIOBALANCE has been specifically designed to promote communication between the plant and the rhizobacteria present in the soil.
